Marriage: Is it just love or do you need more ?

"A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person."

Through the years and centuries of human existence, marriage and love are one of those few things which have not changed. Well not much. People have been marrying for centuries for various reasons, be it to carry forward their family to the next generation, or to satisfy their love interest, or to honor their elders or simply because they were meant to. Whatever may be the reason marriage and love has got us this far, has got humanity this far.

One of the big debates about marriage; is it just love or do you need more for a successful marriage. There are lots of definitions for marriage, some say its a lifetime commitment, while some say its a life long friendship, and some say its pure love. But how far can love take you. Can you keep loving a person without reason, without any expectations. When you get married to a person you expect something out of him/her. Yes, it is love, but it is not just love, it is much more.

Can you love a person who screams at you, who gets angry with you, who complains about you? Yes you can. You can love a person, if you understand the person and the reason for his/her actions. When you try to understand your better half, just as much as you understand yourself, you can love him/her no matter what. It all depends on how far do you want to go for that person.

I think love and a lot of understanding is what makes up a good marriage. Marriage is like a recipe; It needs a blend of a lot of ingredients, and the right ingredients will make up the most delicious dish. But to each his own.
