Over Fishing!!

I came across an article about overfishing while I was surfing the web today. Overfishing could deplete the ocean and make ocean life extinct by 2050. So in another 39 years we would be looking at empty and dead ocean water spread across 2/3rds of the this planet. Wow! We have fished so much in the ocean that we are at the brink of destroying the single most powerful source of energy.

I had never thought that humans could destroy the ocean or any part of it. I thought that it was infinite, in destructive and impermeable. And I am sure so must have you. In fact some of you might think right now, that this is all crap. And I am some random loony girl wasting your time and giving you false information. I wish I was, but it is the bitter truth we face today.

We know life originated from the ocean. But do we know what would be the consequences of such a depletion? Can we anticipate what will happen if every live form in the ocean was dead? No plankton, no fish, no coral reefs. Just dead ocean.

Don't you think the ocean will reciprocate? Will turn back on us for destroying it?

When I was small, my grandpa used to tell me about the ocean. About its harshness and roughness. He told me that the ocean doesn't like it when you challenge it. When you mock it s power and try to tame it. It will reciprocate and destroy you. I know it sounds stupid, but I do believe in the destructive power of the ocean. And am sure so do you. Have you not seen what Tsunami did to us? I think it has started back lashing. And if don't take measures to save the ocean, we might face unknown but very harmful repurcurssions.

Did you what can I do? I am just some XYZ living in PQR? What can I do that will make any difference??
For one thing only we can save our oceans. There is a lot we can do, only if we try. Be informed and make wise choices. I am sure a lot of us eat sea fish. So read up the stuff on what you can do here. And if you don't want to read it up at least look at this list of fish safe to consume without impacting the ocean.

So go ahead and make your choice. Go ahead and make the right choice. And we might still stand a chance of saving the ocean and in turn ourselves.

Still Some Good Left !!

A stranger helps rescue a baby girl from drowning and walks away. An article today described how an unknown french guy, helped rescue a small girl who fell into the river in new york. He walked away, not expecting anything, not media attention, or a thanks from the family or not even a small photograph to be put up in news paper.

In today's world of man eat man, it feels like a miracle when you encounter such people. Makes you wonder if you ever did anything even close to it. Even wonder if there is still some good left in the world.

We always try to justify every small thing we do everyday. Justify to ourselves, to the world, to the nature, to our parents, to our family, to our friends. To everyone and everything......for each and everything we ever did, do or going to do. We want reason to do everything. Everything has become more of a business. Education, Medical attention and even help. In all the chaos of technological developments and scientific research we have forgotten the basic things which once were considered good manners. Like helping others, giving your seat to an old lady, or even just smiling on a passerby. We have become more and more self centered and are teaching our children to be one.

I mean there was once a time when you taught your child to be gentle and grateful. Now we tech then to push others and move forward all on the name of survival, competition and success. Our society has lost the social component. Well at least most of it. Has become so much self centered. We fight to preserve lots of animals on the brink of extinction. But our own humanity is on the brink of extinction and we aren't even aware of it.

But these small incidents remind us, that we still have some humanity left. And we must preserve it before it becomes extinct forever.
